MU, UM System announce closure for Thursday, Feb. 7

COLUMBIA, Mo. ­— Due to anticipated icy conditions developing overnight, University of Missouri officials have announced a full closure beginning at 12:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, until 12:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8. The closure includes UM System offices and the MU campus, including classes. As usual, only employees who are situationally critical should report to work during the suspension.

“We have been monitoring multiple weather forecasts, which have shifted over the past two hours and continue to worsen,” said Gary Ward, MU vice chancellor for operations. “Out of concern for the safety of our campus community, we have decided to close the campus on Thursday.”

Employees and students are expected to exercise judgment regarding their ability to travel safely to campus when inclement weather is in the area.
