According to the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services, seven suspected cases of mumps have been identified in the Columbia area. The University of Missouri is assisting the Health Department in notifying everyone, including University of Missouri students, prospective students and recent campus visitors, who may have come in contact with individuals displaying mump symptoms. As we notify these groups, we are providing information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with recommendations for effective prevention and treatment: www.cdc.gov/mumps/outbreaks/outbreak-patient-qa.html.

MU also is assisting the Health Department in notifying local health care providers, including University of Missouri Health Care physicians.
