COLUMBIA, Mo. – Due to the severe winter weather, University of Missouri officials have announced that the MU campus and UM System offices will remain under full closure for Monday, Jan. 14. Additionally, intersession classes that were scheduled to be held on Monday are canceled and a winter welcome event for new students has been postponed. Only employees who are situationally critical need to report for work.

“This is one of the worst snow storms we’ve experienced,” said Gary Ward, MU vice chancellor for operations. “We continue to be in close contact with local and state officials on the road conditions, and our crews continue their work preparing the campus so that we can reopen as soon as possible.”

All MU Health Care hospitals will remain open, and the Veterinary Health Center will remain open for emergencies. For more information on MU Health Care, please visit The Student Recreation Complex and Campus Dining Services will offer limited services.

“Our thanks goes out to all the workers and volunteers who have been out the past several days – whether they were clearing roads, helping get the power back on or assisting neighbors and friends in need. We can’t express our gratitude enough for the work they have done,” MU Chancellor Alexander N. Cartwright said.

Employees should check with their supervisors who will identify those needed to fulfill critical duties. Details about MU’s campus closure policies can be found at the links below:

A decision on Tuesday’s operations will be made by 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14. Information will be sent to media and distributed to faculty, staff and students via text, email and official social media channels. Information about the winter welcome event and intersession classes will be distributed to affected students and faculty directly.
