MU to celebrate alumnus’ 33 years of giving and student support

WHAT:          

Members of the University of Missouri community are gathering to celebrate Jim and Melanie Liu’s combined lifetime giving and support of student success through the Liu Him Memorial Scholarship.

The total amount of the Liu’s lifetime giving to MU will be announced at the event.

Liu, a three-time graduate of Mizzou, overcame many obstacles to travel to the United States and obtain a college degree. Liu has held multiple prestigious leadership positions in the field of medical physics since graduating.

WHO:             

Speakers include:

  • Tom Hiles, vice chancellor for advancement
  • Chancellor Alexander N. Cartwright
  • Jim Liu, MU donor and alumnus

WHEN & WHERE:    

9 a.m. Friday, April 26
Great Room, Reynolds Alumni Center

NOTE:           

Select speakers will be available for interviews following the announcement. Reporters interested in speaking with presenters are encouraged to contact Sheena Rice at ricesm@missouri.edu or 573-882-8353.

Free parking is available in Turner Avenue Garage for the event, but please be aware that the State Music Festival and State FFA Convention will be taking place on this day. Parking might be difficult to find, and traffic will be heavy throughout campus.
