MEDIA ADVISORY: Mizzou hosts inaugural Learning + Leading Summit to share leadership expertise with Missouri educators

WHAT:           The Novak Leadership Institute, the College of Education and the Lead2Feed student leadership program will host an inaugural Learning + Leading Summit, an interactive collaboration for secondary education administrators.

Missouri educators and others will attend a keynote address, participate in three breakout sessions, hear David Novak on his leadership beliefs, share ideas in three small group discussions and ask questions to a panel of learning experts. Last fall, Novak endowed the Novak Leadership Institute with a $21.6 million gift to MU.

WHO:             Speakers include:

  • David Novak, former CEO of Yum! Brands and founder and CEO of oGoLead
  • Todd Whitaker, professor of educational leadership and motivational education speaker
  • Sarah Hill, CEO of Story Up XR
  • Ebony Reed, professor of journalism and director of innovation, RJI
  • Alfred Solis, project based learning expert
  • Johannes Strobel, professor of information science & technology and expert in defiant behaviors
  • Brandon Butcher, professor of strategic communication and design-thinking expert

WHEN:           8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday, July 23

A lunch presentation by David Novak will be open to the media between 11:40 – 1 p.m. in the Great Room at the Donald W. Reynolds Alumni Center. Novak also will moderate a panel discussion at 4:30 p.m. in the Fred W. Smith Forum in the Reynolds Journalism Institute.
