Calendar Item: MU Department of Religious Studies to host 10th Annual Distinguished Lecture on Religion and Public Life

WHAT:  The Department of Religious Studies in the MU College of Arts and Science will host the 10th Annual Distinguished Lecture on Religion and Public Life. Edward Curtis, Millenium Chair of the Liberal Arts and professor of religious studies at Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis, will present “Blood Sacrifice & the Myth of the Fallen Muslim Soldier in U.S. Presidential Elections after 9/11.”

Since 9/11, Edward Curtis has lectured frequently in the United States, Europe and the Middle East about the role of Islam and Muslims in U.S. history and contemporary affairs. He also has contributed interviews and articles on the subject to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, National Public Radio, and the Associated Press, among other media outlets.
