CALENDAR ITEM: Thompson Center to Promote World Autism Awareness Day

WHAT: The Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the University of Missouri will partner with Autism Speaks to promote World Autism Awareness Day through the Light It Up Blue campaign.

To promote awareness and acceptance, university buildings and locations around Columbia will be lit with blue light.

In addition, as part of the Autism Awareness PSA video contest, local middle and high school students are invited to submit a 60-second video showcasing autism awareness in their school or community. The winning entry will be screened at the annual Light it Up Blue community event. Activities at Faurot Field will include face-painting, crafts, art projects and more.

WHO: The events are free and open to the public.
