MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Hosts Panel on Affordable Care Act

WHAT: On Sept. 17, 1787, America’s Founding Fathers signed the Constitution, the most important document in United States history. To celebrate the 225th anniversary of Constitution Day, University of Missouri School of Law officials are inviting the public to an expert panel on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the recent Supreme Court ruling upholding the controversial health care legislation.
“The Affordable Care Act is one of the most significant pieces of legislation to come out of Congress in a generation,” said Rigel Oliveri, associate dean in the MU School of Law. “This panel will address the Constitutional, economic, and policy ramifications of the law and the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold it.”

WHO: Panelists include:
• Associate Professor of Law Josh Hawley, who clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts
• Phil Peters, the Ruth L. Hulston Professor of Law
• Associate Professor of Law Thom Lambert, who has completed an economic analysis of the ACA
• Stan Hudson, associate director of the MU Center for Health Policy
