MEDIA ADVISORY: Sending Graduates into the Community, MU Celebrates ‘Senior Sendoff’

WHAT: As freshmen, students walk through the historic columns on Francis Quadrangle toward Jesse Hall as part of the “Tiger Walk.” Now, as graduating seniors, they are invited to walk through the columns toward the city of Columbia as part of Senior Sendoff.

Participating seniors will meet at the Carnahan Quadrangle at 4 p.m. and walk as a group to Francis Quadrangle and north through the columns. MU officials, faculty and staff will assemble around Francis Quadrangle to congratulate the seniors as they walk around the Quadrangle and through the Columns. The ceremony symbolizes their graduation and exit from the university and their entrance into the community.

WHO: The Senior Sendoff is sponsored by the Mizzou Alumni Association to celebrate MU’s 2010 graduating class. The event is coordinated by the Alumni Association Student Board.

WHERE: Carnahan Quadrangle and Francis Quadrangle, MU Campus

WHEN: 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 5

NOTE: All graduating MU seniors are welcome to participate in the Tiger Prowl and picnic on Carnahan Quadrangle after the Sendoff. This event is free and open to seniors graduating in 2010.
