MU Professors Discuss Climate Change Conference

WHAT: Mark Cowell and Michael Urban, associate professors of geography at the University of Missouri, will present “Negotiating Climate: Lessons from the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.” The lecture is hosted by the MU International Center; the Department of Geography; the College of Arts and Science; the Department of Geology; the Transatlantic Center; the School of Natural Resources; and the Department of Soil, Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences.

Cowell and Urban attended the United Nations climate change conference in December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. They will discuss the primary issues related to science, advocacy, politics, diplomacy and economics that were central to the U.N. meeting attempting to create an international consensus on how to reduce the impact of global climate change.
