MEDIA ADVISORY: MU, Columbia and Boone County Celebrate 175 Years of Community Partnership

WHAT: The City of Columbia, Boone County and the University of Missouri will celebrate 175 years of community partnership with proclamations from city and county representatives as well as a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Additionally, MU student leaders will make an announcement about the university’s upcoming homecoming festivities.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, an exhibit in the City Hall display case featuring Mizzou artifacts from the past 175 years will be unveiled. The exhibit features the ceremonial mace made for MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin’s inauguration, a vintage Tiger mascot costume and more Mizzou memorabilia, including the grade book of Walter Williams, the journalism school’s founding dean.
