WHO & WHAT: The University of Missouri’s Science Café Columbia continues to inspire informal, relaxed conversations about popular science topics. For this month’s topic “A Climate of Uncertainty”, Mike Urban, professor and chair of the MU department of geography, will discuss the challenges of communicating climate science in a world beset with political polarization and international concern over the catastrophic effects of human-caused climate change.

An offshoot of an international movement started by PBS’ “NOVA,” Science Café Columbia takes place in a neighborhood coffeehouse, library or bar. Meant to include members of the community who may not normally get involved in the science conversation, the MU Bond Life Science Center sponsors these grassroots forums as a means of nurturing a two-way conversation between scientists and the public.

WHEN & WHERE: 6 p.m., Monday, April 14
Broadway Brewery
816 E. Broadway, Columbia, Mo. 65201

NOTE: The event is free and open to the public.
